“RED, YELLOW, BLUE” by Orly Genger
Madison Sq Park on 23st (New York) is home to MAD. SQ. ART. a free contemporary art program. The program presents newly commisioned exhibitions throughout the year with a wide variety of art with artists from around the world. The park is often called “a museum without walls” and is a great destination for art lovers.
The colossal installation is made up of 1.4 million feet of knotted rope (20 times the length of Manhattan) and took over 3,000 gallons of paint. It’s overall purpose is to bring a more dynamite feel to the parks landscape. Attracting on lookers attention to the parks layout and use of empty space. In addition the primary color scheme brings contrast to the parks lush green lawn. After it’s time in New York (Sept 8, 2013) the installation will make its way to the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum outside of Boston in October 2013.
